2009 Vespa Scooter Changes |
|
Who would have though that 2009 is here already! It feels like just yesterday when I was writing the 2008 report. It has been an exciting year at the Scoot Doctor, with some major changes taking place. Our new restoration centre has really paid off this year with us now having control of the entire process of strippmg down, repairing the chassis and respraying. Not moving the bikes around between contractors has meant that our build quaility has shot up noticibly. It is these small changes that make a huge difference in the final product. One the subject of big changes, we sadly said goodbye to Dave, who had been a tireless member of the team. We wish him well in his new ventures. The other major change was that I bought all the shareholding from my other partner in the company. Thanks to Jon for helping to make this venture possible and for knowing when to let go. We expect good things from 2009 and continue to persevere to deliver a unique customized - "better than original" Vespa scooters to you. With traffic becoming a major problem in Cape Town, why not bring your old bike into us to get the Scoot Doctor treatment. It's much cooler than driving one of those plastic things about! All the best - Neil |

Sorry its been so long since we did anything but we been really really busy keeping you and others on the road. Last year we took 5 Vespa's to the Daisy's and it was awsome. At only 90km up the West Coast near Darling, it was a nice ride and a great weekend of partying. This year it is going to be bigger and better with about 30 riders going to make the trip. Because it is a 'green' festival we are getting our own camping area and parking spaces for the bikes. A Vespa uses a third of the amount of petrol than that of a car, at worst. Tickets through us will cost R 355 for the weekend. This will include a T shirt and a support vehicle for those who want to send their tents, food etc seperately. All bikes will also get a free check the week before departure. Its on fom the 3rd to the 5th of Oct. Tickets will be available in about two weeks. We will ride up on Friday the 3rd at about 2pm and ride back on the Sunday at also about 2pm. Hope to see you all there. Be sure to join our group on Facebook - it's called "The Greasy Flaps" Cheers - Neil |

Scoot opens a dedicated restoration centre |
|
We opened the Scoot shop at the top of Bree street wondering if it wouldn't be too big for us. Three months later we have more than 20 bikes in the store at a time, and just no-where to move. One of the first hurdles we hit was getting spray jobs that were up the standard we expected. This was proving to be a problem when we sub-contrated the work. This, combined with the space problem, prompted Neil and Jon to take Dave on board and at the same time open a dedicated restoration centre in Salt River. We now have our own dedicated spray booth and space to keep all the bikes in their various stages of "re-beautification" making our lives that much easier and ensuring that we get the finished bikes back to you in record time. So keep on bringing in those classics, nothing makes us happier than seeing them restored to their former glory. |
